Mumbai City FC today announced the signing of two South American players from Argentina and Uruguay for the third season of the Indian Super League.
Gaston Sangoy, a 31-year-old Argentine striker, has previously won the Cyprus Cup in 2009-10 and more recently, the Polish I Liga in 2015-16. Sangoy has played for clubs like Sporting Gijon, Apollon and Boca Juniors.
Joining Sangoy is Uruguayan centre-back Walter Ibáñez, who has spent a major part of his career playing for the top divisions in South America. Ibáñez won the Peru Copa Inca in 2014 and the Primera Division of Chile in 2014-15.
Mumbai City FC coach Alexandre Guimaraes said, “Gaston is a proven striker and a goal getter. He is a great asset up front and will always keep the opposition on their toes. Walter is a winner and if you see over the last two seasons, he has had over 60 appearances. That is a testament to his skill that he is a permanent fixture in the team for his coach. I am looking forward to working with both of them and forming a winning team."
