Delhi Dynamos, under Miguel Angel Portugal (in picture) will start with a completely new team next season.

10 teams will choose players for their squad from a pool of more than 200 players for the next season of the Indian Super League, in the player draft scheduled for Sunday. Two new teams are included for participation in the league next season onwards, and one of them - Jamshedpur FC - will get first preference in picking its squad when the draft, consisting of 15 rounds, gets underway in a phased manner.

The other debutant - Bengaluru FC - will enter the draft only in the third round alongside five other teams since it has a number of players - including Sunil Chhetri and Udanta Singh - retained from its I-League team.

The ISL clubs were allowed to retain a maximum of two senior players and three U-21 players from last season. Eight teams have retained a few players, while Delhi Dynamos has chosen to pick a completely new side for next season. Hence, Dynamos will be given second preference to pick from the pool of players in the player draft.

Chennayin FC, the 2015 champion, will be allowed to enter the draft only in the fourth round. The team has retained a capped Indian player in Jerry Lalrinzuala, who falls in the U-21 category, besides two other senior players.

The draft will also have the facility of the “Instant Trading Card,” via which a team can choose to obtain a player after he has been picked by another team. The team interested in a picked player will have to use this facility within 15 seconds after the player is picked, after which negotiations would take place.
