Delhi Dynamos has signed Spanish midfielder Xisco Hernandez from Bengaluru FC for the 2019-20 season of the Indian Super League.
Xisco played a key role in Bengaluru’s title triumph last season. He made 20 appearances for the Blues, scoring once and providing five assists.
The 29-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder and can also be deployed on the flanks, providing Dynamos head coach Josep Gombau with a versatile attacking option.
He played most of his career in the Spanish Segunda Division B after coming through the ranks at Spanish side RCD Mallorca. The 2018-19 season of the ISL was his first stint outside Spain.
Xisco will be Gombau’s second foreign signing this season, after retaining Marcos Tebar and bringing in former Barcelona B defender Diawandou Diagne.

“As a coach, I am so happy to have him in my squad. He’s a player who will bring a lot to us, both inside and outside the field. He is a player who is familiar with India and more importantly, he has won the ISL,” said Gombau.
The Dynamos head coach also believes that Xisco is a player who is at a very good age. He brings in good quality to the team and is someone who can play in different positions.
Xisco is elated to have joined the club from the capital. "I am happy to be back in India after a successful first season outside Spain. Coach Gombau has vested immense trust in me and I am very sure that I will be able to deliver as per his expectations. Delhi has a very young squad and I see a lot of potential in the team. Once again, really happy to join Delhi Dynamos and I can't wait to roar."

Delhi Dynamos director Rohan Sharma expressed his delight. “I’m very happy to welcome Xisco to Delhi. He had a very successful stint at his previous club which caught our eye. He was one of the top goal makers in the Indian Super League (ISL), which is something we need at DDFC. We hope that his experience and leadership can also lead Delhi to win the league this year,” he said.
