This was preceded by the departure of the former Blues' No. 1 Thibaut Courtois, who got his desired wish of moving back to Spain, to Real Madrid. Mateo Kovacic went the other way on a season-long loan as part of the deal.

The big focus of the day will be the future of Spurs' Toby Alderweireld, who has been out of favour with the club management. Mourinho's United might get his signature if the club coughs up over £70 million.
