Davis Love IV will get a big stage for his professional debut after being named in the field for the U.S. Open.

The son and namesake of 23-time U.S. Open participant Davis Love III was among six players named on Monday to round out the 156-player field for this week's championship at Erin Hills.

The younger Love, also known as Dru, just wrapped up his collegiate career at Alabama. He has played in only one PGA Tour event, the 2015 RSM Classic at Sea Island, which is hosted by his father.

Love was the first alternate in U.S. Open sectional qualifying at Ball Ground and made the Erin Hills field along with four other alternates: Gregory Bourdy, Tyler Light, Meen Whee Kim and Ryan Palmer. Chris Wood also made the field after moving up to number 60 in the Official World Golf Rankings released on Monday.

Of that group, Light and Kim also will be playing in their first U.S. Opens, but neither can match Love's name recognition.

At least the 23-year-old will have a steady influence on his major debut. His father plans to be on the bag this week, the elder Love revealed on Sunday.
