MATCH REPORT| Pro Kabaddi 2019: Warriors defeats Thalaivas to go second

AND THE MATCH IS DONE AND DUSTED!

Bengal Warriors 35 - 26 Tamil Thalaivas: Vineet Sharma goes in for the final raid of the match and he fails! Baldev Singh gets a second tackle point. No points for the Tamil Thalaivas today after a nine-point loss.

34 - 26: Tamil Thalaivas should at least try getting a point from this game. It's an eight-point gap now. Maninder Singh is one point away from a Super-10 and he is currently on the bench. Anand has been heavily under-used by the Chennai-based team today!

31 - 24: Ajay Thakur bags a 'SUPER-10' next. His first if the season. He's been his side's lone bright-spot in today's game.

31 - 23: Prapanjan gets a 'SUPER-10'! He got the better of both Manjeet Chhilar and the substitute Sagar. It's falling apart for the Tamil Thalaivas now.

29 - 21: AND ANOTHER ALL-OUT!! The Thalaivas have literally thrown away the game! If during the first-half Prapanjan dominated them, now Maninder is humiliating them. Rinku Narwal has registered a 'HIGH-5' process as well. Eight-point lead for the Warriors!

25 - 20: Maninder Singh is evading Tamil Thalaivas defenders with ease here. What was Manjeet Chhilar trying there? He makes the long walk back. Meanwhile, Shabeer Bappu keeps getting the bonuses to keep his team in the hunt.

24 - 18: Tamil Thalaivas defenders are kind of throwing it away right now. Ran Singh once again loses out to Maninder. The Bengal skipper got two more points, via a bonus and an Ajeet mistake. The Warriors get back their six-point lead over the Thalaivas.

21 - 18: SUPER-RAID!!! It's not Ajay or Rahul or even Shabeer, it was the super- sub Anand!! For a moment, it looked as though Jeeva Kumar had got the better of the raider but Anand made a brilliant turn to evade Jeeva and two others, namely Prapanjan and Rinku.

21 - 15: Silly error from Mohit Chhilar! Nabibakhsh gets his first point of the evening now! He didn't have to do much here as the point was gifted to him.

20 - 15: REVIEW UNSUCCESSFUL!! Bengal Warriors challenged that a player had gone out of bounds during its raid. But the referee's decision stands. Mohammad Nabibakhsh and Shabeer Bappu are out in two back-to-back raids, due to the efforts of Ajeet and Baldev Singh respectively.

19 - 14: A Manjeet Chhilar error and four straight points for Bengal Warriors now! Rahul Chaudhari, Ajay Thakur and Manjeet are all on the bench now. Rinku Narwal with two successive tackle points as well.

Bengal Warriors 17 - 14 Tamil Thalaivas: K Prapanjan is finally back on the mat! Thanks to Sukesh Hegde. Manjeet Chhilar makes a miserable tackle attempt. Prapanjan gets a bonus point straightaway.

The second-half has begun!!

Tamil Thalaivas captain Ajay Thakur has finally stepped up!!!! His understudy at the Chennai-based Kabaddi two seasons ago K Prapanjan has also had a good game so far. Let's see what both of them do in the final twenty minutes.

On the back of Ajay's brilliant performance so far, watch the inaugural episode of Sportstar'sKings of Kabaddi, featuring Tamil Thalaivas skipper Ajay Thakur, in the link provided below.

AND IT'S HALF-TIME!!!

Bengal Warriors 15 - 14 Tamil Thalaivas: SUBSTITUTION! Another former Tamil Thalaivas raider Sukesh Hegde replaces Naveen Narwal now. Next up, Maninder first executes a perfect running hand touch on Ajeet and then is taken out by the Commander of the Thalaivas 'Manjeet Chhilar' in Bengal Warriors' next raid.

14 - 13: The lead is down to one now! Rahul Chaudhari escaped a Mohammad Nabibakhsh thigh hold first, then Maninder returned the favour on ex-teammate Ran Singh. Finally, Ajay Thakur bagged his eighth raid point of the match!

13 - 11: And Prapanjan finally goes to the bench! Of all people, a raider Shabeer Bappu absolutely floors him. Bengal skipper Maninder and Thalaivs captain Ajay had got a raid point each before that.

12 - 9: Maninder gets his first raid point of the day. Mohit Chhilar gifted him a point here. But his opposite number Ajay does one better by wrong-footing both Baldev Singh and Naveen Narwal. The raiders have dominated the match so far.

11 - 7: ALL-OUT!!! Ajay Thakur got the bonus but Rinku Narwal pulls him back with an ankle hold. The rest of the team joins him. Another day, another early Tamil Thalaivas All-Out!

8 - 6: Prapanjan is having a field day today against his former team. Another two-point raid for him! Tamil Thalaivas down to one man! Seven out of the eight Bengal Warriors have been contributed by Prapanjan. What a player!!!

5 - 5 : Two-point raid!! Prapanjan gets the better of both Mohit Chhilar and Shabeer Bappu. In the previous raid, Shabeer had got a bonus.

3 - 4: Two failed do-or-die raids now! Maninder Singh successfully tackled for the second time in five minutes! Ajeet has taken him out once again. Rahul Chaudhari falls prey to Jeeva Kumar next.

2 - 3: Another raid point for Ajay Thakur! Today might be his day because he looks so calm and composed, something which had been missing entire season. Rinku Narwal is the player out. And Prapanjan bags his second point as well. Ran Singh was the defender at fault here.

1 - 2: And Ajay Thakur gets a do-or-die raid right!!! Baldev Singh rushed in for a push but 'captain-cool' gets the better of him. Former Thalaivas player Prapanjan evades Rahul Chaudhari, who came in with a silly tackle, the next raid.

Bengal Warriors 0 - 1 Tamil Thalaivas: Maninder walks back to the bench straightaway. Ajeet with wonderful thigh hold here.  Good positive start from the team from Chennai.

The match is underway!

Tamil Thalaivas captain Ajay Thakur has just 43 raid points in an off-colour PKL season seven so far.  But he is also among the only two raiders with 200-plus points in seasons five and six, the other being the 'Dubki-King' Pardeep Narwal. So will today be Ajay's moment of redemption?

The players are coming out now.

All you Kabaddi fanatics out there, you've seen Iranian stalwart 'The Sultan' Fazel Atrachali dominate raiders with serious determination on the mat but now he goes full-on candid in Sportstar'sKings of Kabaddi. The promo for episode three is out! You can watch it in the tweet below. Stay tuned for the full episode!

Bengal Warriors had lost 33-36 to Haryana Steelers in its previous outing in Delhi. In spite of the loss, the team is still sitting in a comfortable position in the PKL 2019 points table. But a loss or two from here on might put the team in a spot of bother. Tamil Thalaivas, on the other hand, is coming off a miserable home leg, which included three losses and a tie. With a win today, the team will re-enter the 'TOP-SIX'. The raiders from both teams might take the centre stage in today's game.

The match will be live streamed on Hotstar and will also be available to watch on Star Network's live broadcast.
