The Naveen-Pardeep battle lived up to the billing as league's top raiders scored 30 points in total, but it was Delhi's Vijay who stunned everyone.

Delhi jumps back to the top of the table after snatching a thrilling victory from the jaws of defeat.   -  PKL MEDIA

HELLO THERE, JAIPUR!

Hello and welcome to Sportstar's live blog of Thursday's Pro Kabaddi League matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

This was Shivansh Gupta bringing all the live action, commentary, scores and updates to you as it unfurled on a single-match night.

Until tomorrow, this is Shivansh Gupta bidding you all  a good night. CIAO!

Day after, the PKL caravan moves to Panchkula for the Haryana Steelers' home leg and in the coming episodes of #KingsofKabaddi, we have two big names waiting for you.

That's all we have for you today. Thank you so much for joining us. It was an absolute humdinger and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Hope you did too.

Jang Kun Lee, for the third time in a row, scored seven points and was the second best man on the mat for Patna. On the other hand, Naveen Kumar brought up his 16th consecutive and 17th overall Super-10 and he finished with 11 raid points. Special mention to Anil Kumar, who was the best defender today with four tackle points. Ranjit also had a good outing with eight points.

NOW, THEIR CHANCES ARE NEXT TO ZERO! EVEN IF THEY WIN ALL THE MATCHES FROM HEREON, THEY WILL ONLY GET TO 55 POINTS AND THAT, MOST PROBABLY, WILL NOT SUFFICE THE THREE-TIME CHAMPIONS!

THEY CAME AGONIZINGLY CLOSE BEFORE BEING  SHOCKED BY ONE MOMENT OF BRILLIANCE.

PATNA, UNTIL TODAY, HAD WEAK CHANCES OF MAKING IT TO THE PLAYOFFS AS THEY HAD TO WIN EVERY GAME STARTING TODAY.

DELHI REGAINS THE TOP SPOT WITH THIS VICTORY AND REMAINS UNBEATEN FOR 56 DAYS NOW! THAT IS SOME SERIOUS STAT RIGHT THERE!

VIJAY, YOU WERE THE TRUE HERO OF THE MATCH! 13 RAID POINTS FROM 9 RAIDS AND UNBEATEN, UNTACKLED ALL NIGHT! IN THE ABSENCE OF NAVEEN KUMAR, IT WAS VIJAY WHO TURNED THE TIDE WITH HIS FIVE-POINT EFFORT!

It was the surprise package of the night. It was, Vijay!

No, it was not Naveen Kumar. No, it was neither Joginder Narwal or Ravinder Pahal.

PATNA'S BRILLIANT WORK FOR 35/40 MINUTES GETS UNDONE BY ONE MAN!

PARDEEP NARWAL, UNFORTUNATELY, ENDS ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE RESULT AGAIN! HIS SOLO EFFORT 19 POINTS GETS UNDONE BY ONE MAN!

FULL-TIME! WHAT HAVE WE WITNESSED HERE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!  TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS, I AM HAVING GOOSEBUMPS AS DELHI WINS 43-39!

39-43: RANJIT WITH THE LAST RAID OF THE MATCH AND HE RUNS THE CLOCK DOWN!!!!

39-43: Jang Kun Lee comes in to raid and is happy with a bonus.

38-43: Naveen is spun around and floored by Jawahar, but that is going to be enough.

37-43: THAT SHOULD BE IT! WITH ONE MINUTE TO GO, ANIL KUMAR BAGS HIS FOURTH TACKLE POINT OF THE NIGHT! JAGLAN WALKS BACK AFTER BEING PINNED DOWN WITH A BRUTAL BLOCK.

37-42: DELHI NOW LEADS BY FIVE! Pardeep has been sent to the bench with a brilliant thigh hold from Anil Kumar.

37-41: Naveen Kumar picks up his 11th point of the night with a touch point off Jang Kun Lee.

37-40: ALL-OUT! THIS GAME HAS BEEN TURNED ON ITS HEAD! DELHI INCHES AHEAD WITH THE FIRST ALL-OUT ON PATNA! Jang Kun Lee cannot revive anyone and runs down the clock after getting a bonus.

36-37: NAVEEN HAS HAD AN AVERAGE GAME AND YET, HE GETS TO HIS SUPER-10. PATNA DOWN TO ONE MAN AS HE NEGOTIATES A FAILED BLOCK FROM JAWAHAR. HIS 16TH CONSECUTIVE ONE!

36-36: SCORES LEVEL AND GUESS WHAT, PARDEEP IS GONE! Sombir, waited and waited and he pounced at the right time!

This raid fetched him five points. Two defenders with a failed ankle hold and then two Pirates with a failed dash. VIJAY, THAT IS A MONUMENTAL RAID! HE OVERPOWERS FOUR MEN ON HIS OWN WHILE HE WAS ON HIS WAY DOWN FACE FIRST! TO TOP IT UP, HE GOT A BONUS TOO.

PHEW! LET ME SUM THIS MASSIVE RAID UP! So, SUPER-10 FOR VIJAY, HIS TALLY GOES UP TO 12.

Hadi with a failed ankle hold and then Monu also tries an ankle hold. Then, Neeraj Kumar and Jaglan try to dash Neeraj out, but they fail. DELHI CHALLENGES THE CALL, CLAIMING VIJAY SHOULD GET BONUS PLUS FOUR. Replay shows Delhi is right and the review IS SUCCESFFUL

36-35: SUPER-RAID FROM VIJAY!!!! IS THIS THE TURNING POINT OF THE MATCH? HE GETS FOUR  PATNA MEN AND A BONUS!!!!!

36-30: Vijay with a bonus point.

36-29: Vijay gets Neeraj Kumar with a touch point and that is followed by Pardeep Narwal scoring his 19th raid point of the match. Once again, he gets Delhi's skipper, Joginder Narwal.

35-28: STAND, RISE AND APPLAUD! PARDEEP NARWAL REGISTER 1,100 RAID POINTS AND BECOMES THE FIRST RAIDER TO DO SO! ANIL KUMAR FAILS TO TACKLE PARDEEP THERE, WHO SOMERSAULTS BACK TO SAFETY.

34-28: NAVEEN 'EXPRESS' KUMAR HAS BEEN DERAILED AGAIN! Naveen gets a bonus point and then is held back by a solid ankle grapple from Jaideep in the left corner.

33-27: ALL 14 MEN ON THE MAT AS JANG KUN LEE COMES IN FOR AN EMPTY RAID.

Phew, Thank God for a timeout. I didn't even realise how the last 13 minutes flew by. PARDEEP NARWAL, IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST. 17 POINTS ALREADY AND PATNA JUST NEEDS HIM TO FIRE. When he gets going, Patna looks like a different unit all together. Simply mesmerising!

33-27: THIS IS PURE CARNAGE! PATNA PIRATES EFFECT A SECOND ALL-OUT ON DELHI! RANJIT WAS THE LAST MAN IN AND AFTER GETTING A BONUS, HE FALLS PREY TO A NEERAJ KUMAR BLOCK!

30-26: NO PROBLEM, SAYS PARDEEP NARWAL! Sombir with a desperate ankle hold on Pardeep, but he doesn't have enough strength on that occasion to hold him back.

29-26: DELHI SURVIVES! Ranjit was the last man in. He got a bonus and then a failed tackle from Neeraj Kumar means Delhi gets a revival.

29-24: PARDEEP DOES IT AGAIN! HE FIRST GETS JOGINDER NARWAL AND THEN TURNS QUICKLY, EVADES A DASH FROM VIJAY AND JUMPS BACK TO SAFETY.

27-24: Jaideep with yet another failed tackle and gifts a point to Ranjit.

27-23: PARDEEP REDUCES DELHI TO TWO MEN! Ravinder Pahal with a failed tackle.

26-23: Bonus plus one from Ranjit. He sends Jaideep back to the bench.

26-21: PARDEEP GETS NAVEEN KUMAR! HUGE MOMENT IN THE GAME! He throws in a dummy hand at left corner before getting a running hand touch off Naveen Kumar.

25-20: SUPER-10 WITH A SUPER-RAID FROM PARDEEP NARWAL! THIS IS SHEER BRILLIANCE. FIRST, HE WRIGGLES OUT OF AN ANKLE HOLD FROM THE LEFT CORNER DEFENDER AND THEN HE MANAGES TO EVADE A DOUBLE DASH.

21-20: TELL YOU WHAT, VIJAY IS DOING REALLY WELL HERE! ANOTHER TWO-POINT RAID BY HIM! He gets a bonus and then drags himself back to safety after being floored by a diving double ankle hold form Hadi Oshtorak.

21-18: Pardeep now gets Chandran Ranjit.

20-18: WELL DONE, NAVEEN! He was in a bit of trouble when Neeraj Kumar, Patna's mainstay defender, charged at Naveen with a dash and almost emerged on top. However, Naveen manages to get his hand past the mid-line just on time.

20-17: 8th point of the night for Pardeep as he gets a touch point off Anil Kumar.

19-17: ALL-OUT ON DELHI AND PATNA DRAWS FIRST BLOOD! THAT WAS SPECTACULAR DEFENDING! BRILLIANT BACK HOLD ON NAVEEN BY VIKAS JAGLAN!  Naveen is tackled for the first time tonight after getting a bonus.

16-16: Pardeep up against two Delhi men and MAKE THAT ONE MAN ON THE MAT FOR DELHI! Vijay has to go back to the bench, after he slips while attempting an ankle hold on Pardeep.

15-16: Naveen Kumar picks up a bonus point in the right corner.

15-15: Jang Kun Lee continues to impress in Pardeep's absence. He gets Anil Kumar and Chandran Ranjit. WOW. Narwal is revived.

13-15: Pardeep resumes the proceedings AND WHAT A 'DABANG' SUPER-TACKLE! WHAT A START TO THE FINAL 20 FOR DELHI! ANIL WITH A GUTSY SOLO BLOCK AND THANKFULLY FOR HIS TEAM, THERE WAS TIMELY SUPPORT!

AND WE ARE BACK WITH THE SECOND HALF

STORY OF THE FIRST HALF

  • PARDEEP NARWAL- 6 POINTS; NAVEEN KUMAR - 4 POINTS
  • 9 RAID POINTS EACH FOR BOTH TEAM
  • 2 TACKLE POINTS FOR PATNA, 3 FOR DELHI
  • 15 FAILED TACKLES FROM BOTH SIDES COMBINED.
  • PARDEEP HAS SPENT 8 MINUTES AND 35 SECONDS ON THE BENCH. MASSIVE

HALF-TIME! THIS SEEMS TO THE FAIR RESULT. BOTH TEAMS, MAINLY PARDEEP NARWAL AND NAVEEN KUMAR, started with a flurry of touch points. Then, once Pardeep was sent to the bench, both teams used a cautious approach and played on the do-or-die raids sequence. However, the match came alive once again towards the end of the first half when Naveen was sent back and Pardeep came back on.

13-13: Vijay gets a bonus point and also sends Hadi Oshtorak with a touch point.

13-11: TWO POINTS FOR PIRATES AND PARDEEP! One defender with the block and the other falls prey to a running hand touch, Pardeep sends Ravinder Pahal and Joginder Narwal back. The latter had come in for the block.

11-11: Vijay levels the scores with a bonus point.

11-10: Do-or-die raid for Patna and Lee triumphs. PATNA TAKES LEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME TONIGHT! Vishal Mane falls prey to a touch point from Jang Kun Lee.

10-10: Do-or-die raid and this time, Naveen Kumar come sin. He is up against five, fishing for a running hand touch. He runs deep in the left and when the defence comes to corner him, he surprises everyone and runs past the entire Pirates caravan. WOW! One point each as Naveen stepped into the lobby before getting a touch.

9-9: Do-or-die raid for Patna and PARDEEP HAS ALREADY GONE BACK TO THE BENCH! BRILLIANT STRATEGY FROM DABANG AND YOU HAVE TO SAY, POOR FROM PATNA. Coming to the raid, Narwal is floored by a short block converted into a thigh hold by Joginder Narwal. IF YOU REMEMBER, this is Joginder's preferred move.

9-8: Do-or-die raid for Delhi and Ranjit comes in. He is up against five and PARDEEP NARWAL IS REVIVED! RANJIT IS HELD BACK BY A DIVING ANKLE HOLD BY HADI OSHTORAK!

8-8: Do-or-die raid for Patna and Jang Kun Lee stuns Ravinder Pahal. He gets the left corner defender with a reverse kick to the defender's shin.

7-8: Do-or-die raid for Delhi first and Ranjit delivers. Neeraj Kumar, in all honesty, has been undone by an excellent, semi-diving, sliding toe touch from the raider.

Both Naveen Kumar and Pardeep Narwal have scored four points so far.

7-7: THE FIRST CLIMAX HAS ARRIVED! BRAVE BACK HOLD ON PARDEEP NARWAL FROM VIJAY! THAT WAS GUTSY, BUT THE PERILOUS TACKLE PAYS DIVIDENT. That was a block converted into a backhold.

5-5: PATNA DRAWS LEVEL IN TWO SUCCESSIVE RAIDS! FIRST, VIKAS HOLD  JAGLAN PAHAL BACK AND THEN, PATNA SCORES ITS FIRST TACKLE POINT OF THE NIGHT BY PINNING CHANDRAN RANJIT DOWN!

3-5: NAVEEN KUMAR VS PARDEEP NARWAL IS LIVING UP TO IT'S BILLING AS Naveen Kumar now sends Jaideep back after the left cover tries a weak ankle hold.

3-4: Pardeep Narwal continues to make merry as he sends Ravinder Pahal with a sliding toe touch. Pirates looking to spoil Dabang party early in the contest.

2-4: Do-or-die raid for Delhi and Naveen Kumar responds by sending Monu back to the bench. Monu with an eager tackle and failing miserably there.

2-3:  However, in the next raid, he doesn't go back empty-handed. ONE SKIPPER GETS THE OTHER! DELHI'S LEFT CORNER, JOGINDER NARWAL, HAS BEEN SENT BACK TO THE BENCH WITH A RUNNING HAND TOUCH!

1-3: Pardeep Narwal with a rare empty raid.

1-3: FIRST TACKLE POINT OF THE NIGHT GOES TO DELHI! Ravinder Pahal with a 'Dabang' tackle on the Korean, Jang Kun Lee in the right corner. The cover pounces too and what an ankle hold on Lee.

1-2 Naveen Kumar is in for the first raid of the match and he eliminates Neeraj Kumar with a running hand touch.

1-1: Pardeep Narwal in for the first raid of the for Patna and he fetches a bonus.

0-1: Chandran Ranjit comes in for the first raid of the match and he goes back with a point. Vikas Jaglan gifts a point to Delhi in the very first raid of the match with a weak frontal block.

TOSS- Patna wins the toss and Delhi raid first.

PREVIEW:

Naveen Kumar and Pardeep Narwal will go head to head when Dabang Delhi will square off against Patna Pirates in the 2019 Pro Kabaddi League at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur later on Thursday.

Both teams have a lot of play to for in this highly-anticipated clash, which will feature two of the three league's leading raiders.

Delhi would eye to regain the top spot after being displaced by Bengal Warriors, while Patna Pirates would look to continue its good run and keep its hopes of making it to the playoffs alive.

Delhi hasn't lost a match since August 1 and it has one man to thank for it. Naveen 'Express' Kumar has spearheaded Delhi's raiding department and registered his 15th consecutive and 16th overall 'Super-10' against Bengaluru Bulls in the previous match.

He is currently placed third in the most raid points list with 211 points.

On the other hand, Pardeep Narwal has kept Patna Pirates afloat. With 224 raid points, he is currently the league's second most successful raider this season and Patna has mainly banked on his exploits. The longer he spends time on the mat, the higher is Patna's chances of winning.

Both men, however, have received sporadic support from their teammates.

For Delhi, its experienced corner defenders have chipped in with some crucial performances. Whenever Ravinder Pahal in the right corner and Joginder Narwal in the left get going, Delhi scores big.

Pirates' leading defender Neeraj Kumar is the heart of the team's defence. If he and Vikas Jaglan stitch up a good partnership, Patna will have a good shot at upsetting Delhi.

Jang Kun Lee's recent returns are an encouraging sign for Patna. Pardeep hasn't received a good supporting hand and it is important that Mohammad Esmaeil Maghsoudlou and Lee provide just that.

Delhi is coming off a thrilling 39-39 tie against Bengaluru and Patna Pirates' winning streak was ended by Haryana Steelers in its 34-39 defeat.
