India’s Jeremy clinches silver at World Youth Weightlifting C’ship

Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga gave a fine exhibition of his potential to hoist a total of 240kg and bag the men's 56kg silver medal in the World Youth Weightlifting Championship in Bangkok on Wednesday.

Jeremy, who lifted 110kg in snatch and 130kg in clean and jerk, was beaten by Chen Maoran by just one kg. The Chinese, who did 106kg in snatch, took the gold on the strength of his performance of 135kg in clean and jerk.

Toptas Caner of Turkey claimed the bronze medal with an aggregate of 237kg (109kg+128kg).
