Wrestler Narsingh Yadav arrives at NADA office in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Wrestler Narsingh Yadav, who has tested positive for a banned substance and may miss out on participating in the coming Rio Olympics, lodged a complaint with the Haryana Police on Wednesday alleging that a conspiracy was hatched against him to “prevent him from going to the Olympics”.

Based on the complaint, an FIR has been lodged at Rai Police Station in Sonipat on charges of criminal conspiracy and causing hurt by means of poison under the Indian Penal Code.

Narsingh has expressed suspicion in his complaint that some “most prominent” people could be involved in the conspiracy. He has also named a Delhi-based wrestler Jitesh in the complaint accusing him of mixing a banned substance in his food.

“Narsingh Yadav along with his friends came to the Rai Police Station in the early hours of Wednesday and gave a written complaint alleging that banned substance was mixed in his food as part of a conspiracy to prevent him from going to Rio Olympics. We took a legal opinion on the matter and lodged an FIR. The investigation into the case has been handed over to a Crime Investigation Agency Inspector.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kharkhoda, would supervise the investigation,” Director General of Police, Sonipat, Hardeep Singh Doon said.

Narsingh, in his two page complaint (a copy of which is with Sportstar), said that his friend Chandan Yadav was cooking food for him in the mess of Sports Authority of India, Sonipat on the night of June 5 and had gone to fetch tomatoes from a store room when Jitesh, who is presently practising at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi's Model Town, came to the kitchen and added some “banned substance” to his food.

The complaint further said that when Chandan returned, he noticed some green and white substance in the food and Jitesh walked out of the kitchen on seeing him. Narsingh claimed that mess staff, Vijay and Rahul, also noticed Jitesh adding some substance to his food.

“Now that my dope test is positive, I am confident that Jitesh alone has added some banned substance to our food or the water bottles during practice. All this is being done against me as part of a conspiracy. It is suspected that some most prominent people could be involved in it.

"A conspiracy has been hatched to prevent me from going to Rio Olympics...a high-level probe should be conducted into the matter and the culprits be caught at the earliest and given strict punishment to prevent the repetition of any such incident to any player in the future,” read the complaint.
