Amit Panghal

The talented boxer from Mayna village of Rohtak district in Haryana caught everyone's attention when he won the 49kg National title on debut in Guwahati in 2016.

The year 2018 started on a positive note for Amit Panghal when he won the gold medal in the Srandja Memorial tournament in Bulgaria and added a Commonwealth Games silver in Gold Coast to his armoury.

The icing on the cake was his win over Dusmatov in the Asian Games final to avenge his World championships defeat and emerge the champion in Jakarta.

He is the only Indian boxer to clinch a gold medal in the prestigious continental event.

Serving the Indian Army as a Junior Commissioned Officer, 23-year-old Panghal, who took up boxing by being inspired by his elder brother and fellow Armyman Ajay, will be keen to make an impact in the Olympics in Tokyo.
