Bronze for Ravina, Murlikumar

Haryana’s Ravina clocked a personal best time as she won a bronze in the women’s 10,000m race walk in the 17th Asian junior athletics championship at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on Friday.

The 19-year-old, the junior Federation Cup champion in Bengaluru last month with a personal best 51:15.27s, was much faster in Vietnam as she took the bronze in 51:09.48s, behind China’s Wang Wenjing and Cun Hailu.

However, Ravina narrowly missed the qualification standard (51:00s) for next month’s World junior championship to be held in Poland.

India won another bronze through T. Murlikumar in the men’s 5000m. He clocked 14:49.41m while Kisan Narshi Tadvi finished fourth in 14:52.15s.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Kerketta was 10th in the women’s long jump with 5.75m.

Pole vault: 1. Abdulwahid Muntadher Falih (Irq) 5.25m, 2. Amsang Patsapong (Tha) 5.20, 3. Alateej Ali Mohsin (Irq) 5.10.

Women:

Long jump: 1. Nguyen Thi Truc Mai (Vie) 6.34m, 2. Parinya Chuaimaroeng (Tha) 6.28, 3. Yao Jiayu (Chn) 6.04. 10. Priyanka Kerketta (Ind) 5.75.

Shot put: 1. Kori Nanaka (Jpn) 15.89m, 2. Dong Yu (Chn) 14.23, 3. Liu Ziyue (Chn) 14.22.

10,000m walk: 1. Wang Wenjing (Chn) 50:23.89s, 2. Cun Hailu (Chn) 50:37.03, 3. Ravina (Ind) 51:09.48.
