In a glitzy affair, Chepauk Super Gillies launched its team logo, jersey, squad anthem and music video here on Sunday.

The team, owned by the Daily Thanthi group, is one of the eight franchises of the India Cements-Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin, and international cricketers Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan and Ashish Nehra were guests of honour at the function attended by TNCA president N. Srinivasan and TNPL Chairman P. S. Raman.

The four cricketers unveiled a mannequin representing a player in the team attire before posing for the cameramen. Several personalities from the film industry were present on the occasion. "It is a good platform for the Tamil Nadu cricketers. It will be a good competition to spot young talent," said Azharuddin.

In the colourful programme that followed, Super Gillies captain R. Sathish walked the ramp with popular actress Samantha. And the other members of the side 'cat-walked’ with models.

Former India left-hander Hemang Badani, the coach of the side, and other members of the support staff were introduced to the audience.

The music video of the team anthem was shown on the big screen. The cricketers were joined by team owner Sivanthi Adityan.
