Bengal squad for Vijay Hazare announced

Seasoned batsmen Anustup Majumdar and Debabrata Das along with Sudip Chatterjee, who was out of action due to a finger injury, have made a comeback to the Bengal squad for the Vijay Hazare Group C one-day matches to be held in Chennai from February 25 to March 6.

Seasoned batsmen Anustup Majumdar and Debabrata Das along with Sudip Chatterjee, who was out of action due to a finger injury, have made a comeback to the Bengal squad for the Vijay Hazare Group C one-day matches to be held in Chennai from February 25 to March 6.

Majumdar, 32, who last donned the Bengal colours in the 2012-13 season before switching to Railways, has now opted to play for his home state. Debabrata, who picked up a hamstring injury during the East Zone T20 league matches, has recovered for the one-dayers.

Talented left-handed batsman Sudip, who had missed the T20 league due to the finger injury, was also fit. Bengal will miss the services of Wriddhiman Saha as the leading wicketkeeper-batsman will do the National duty in the upcoming Test series against Australia.

According to Bengal coach Sairaj Bahutule, the preparatory camp will start from Saturday. The team will play a practice match against Calcutta Cricket and Football Club on February 21 before moving to Chennai.

The squad: Manoj Tiwari (captain), Shreevats Goswami (wk), Sudip Chatterjee, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Abhishek Raman, Debabrata Das, Anustup Majumdar, Pankaj Shaw, Writtick Chatterjee, Pragyan Ojha, Aamir Gani, Ashok Dinda, Sayan Ghosh, Kanishk Seth, Ishan Porel, Mukesh Kumar; Standby: Pramod Chandila, Veer Pratap Singh.
