South Africa have suffered another injury blow, with wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock ruled out of his side's remaining limited-overs matches against India.
The Proteas, who slipped 2-0 down in the six-match one-day international series with India courtesy of a nine-wicket defeat at Centurion on Sunday, have already been hampered by injuries to skipper Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers.
Aiden Markram has been named interim captain in Du Plessis' absence, but the new skipper will have to cope without De Kock, who has hurt his left wrist.
South Africa team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said: "Quinton suffered an extreme blow to the left wrist while batting in the second ODI on Sunday and felt severe pain and discomfort.
"Further investigation revealed severe bony bruising to the area, with associated swelling around the tendon in the wrist.
"This type of injury will require between 2-4 weeks to heal, which subsequently rules him out of the remainder of the ODI and T20 series against India.
"The Cricket South Africa medical team will aim to have him ready for the Test series against Australia starting next month."
South Africa have opted not to call up a replacement for De Kock. The third ODI takes place in Cape Town on Wednesday.
