Deodhar Trophy: Prasidh Krishna eager to make an impression

Krishna was selected on the basis of his impressive performance for Karnataka in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 21-year-old picked up 13 wickets in seven matches, at an average of 16.6. This included a four-wicket haul against Jammu and Kashmir.

Just seven matches into his List ‘A’ career, Prasidh Krishna has taken a giant leap forward. The pacer was picked for the India ‘Blue’ squad, which will compete in the Deodhar Trophy, which commences at Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The side is led by Rohit Sharma.

Krishna was selected on the basis of his impressive performance for Karnataka in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 21-year-old picked up 13 wickets in seven matches, at an average of 16.6. This included a four-wicket haul against Jammu and Kashmir.

“I’ve worked hard to get a chance like this. Now I want to make the most of this opportunity. I’m eager to test myself at this level,” Krishna told Sportstar here on Tuesday.

The fast bowler had made an impression in his first-class debut, in September 2015, against Bangladesh ‘A’ (at Mysuru). Prasidh showcased pace, bounce and movement to record a five-for in the visitor’s first essay. However, that encounter turned out to be Prasidh’s only tryst with first-class cricket. He has since turned out for the Karnataka under-23 side, before returning to the domestic spotlight with the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

“I’ve been patient, and kept up my work ethic,” Prasidh said. His Karnataka teammates Manish Pandey and Mayank Agarwal have been selected to the India 'Red' squads.
