Vijay Hazare Trophy: Vidarbha routs J&K by 74 runs

Ganesh Satish’s commendable knock of 94, followed by an all-round bowling performance, allowed Vidarbha to register a strong 74-run win over Jamu and Kashmir in a Group D tie of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy at the AOC Centre Thapar Stadium in Secunderabad on Tuesday.

Put into bat, Vidarbha was off to a shaky start, losing opener and skipper Faiz Fazal for a duck. The incoming batsmen, though, did manage to settle things down, as Satish played a calm innings of 94, allowing Vidarbha to reach 245 in 48.2 overs. J&K’s Umar Nazir Mir claimed three for 41.

In reply, J&K, too was off to a shaky start and the side kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Although Bandeep Singh and Ram Dayal played a fightback innings of 53 and 55, each, it was hardly enough to earn them a victory, as the Vidarbha bowlers were too strong for its batsmen. Shrikant Wagh claimed three for 26, as J&K was bundled for 172 in 38.4 overs, allowing Vidarbha to win by 74 runs.
