What a game! What a finish!

It was India’s game to lose and it managed to lose it. In multiple ways. Poor running, rash shot making and lack of common sense. From 193/4 to 225 all out, this tie would feel like a win for Bangladesh. Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol were cruising at one stage. Mandhana’s wicket gave a little window to Bangladesh but Harmanpreet shut it. Yet, wickets in quick succession saw the momentum derailed. The tail too offered no support and in the end Jemimah was left alone with no support.

Marufa to bowl the final over. India needs three runs in six deliveries. Bangladesh needs one wicket.

Meghna takes a single off the first delivery. Jemimah too pushes it down to long on.

Meghna on strike. FOUR! She connects a slog and sends it between deep mid wicket and long on. In the air but falls short of long on.

Nahida to bowl. Another WICKET! Sneh Rana is caught and bowled. A fantastic catch diving forward by Nahida. Bangladesh needs two wickets to win.

Is there another twist in the tale?

Sultana to Jemimah. A drive to long on for the first run of the over. A quick single by Amanjot with a flick to the right of short mid wicket. Jemimah has to dive to make it home.

Another run out chance. Jemimah flicks to short square leg and sets off. A direct hit at the striker’s end makes it interesting but the replays show Amanjot is in the crease. Six singles from the over. India 14 away from a win.

Rabeya to Jemimah. Picks a single on the first delivery. Amanjot is able to rotate strike as well. Jemimah gets a faint edge which sends the ball down to third man. Two runs taken. Five runs from the over.

Sultana Khatun back into the attack. Dropped! Jemimah lobs a full toss straight to short mid wicket. The fielder jumps to get the catch but cannot hold onto it. A simple chance gone begging. Amanjot’s pull shot to deep square for a single brings up the 200 for India. Six singles from the over.

Amanjot Kaur joins Jemimah Rodrigues. Fahima to continue. Just three runs from the over. Bangladesh making it difficult to score runs.

Harleen Deol is RUN OUT! Nahida’s full toss is tucked away on the off side but the point fielder stops it. Deol is too late to turn back and by the time she makes the dive the keeper disturbs the stumps.

Another RUN OUT! Deepti Sharma departs. Absolutely shocking cricket from India. Jemimah, in a bid to retain strike, taps it straight to short cover and runs for a single. No way that was a run. Deepti Sharma is caught well short as Rabeya gets a direct hit.

Marufa to bowl. Two deliveries into the over, Marufa seems to have dislocated her shoulder. She cannot continue on and is off the pitch. Shobana completes the remaining over and five runs come from it.

Fahima to Jemimah. A sweep to deep mid wicket for a single. Deol plays it past short cover and gets two by the time deep cover fields it. Chance! Deol’s slog sweep is nearly caught at deep mid wicket. Five runs in the first over after restart.

The live pictures from the ground suggest that it has stopped raining. The cover on the square has also been taken off.

The umpires finally decide that the rain is too heavy for play to continue.

Marufa Akter is back into the attack. Jemimah glances a delivery on the pads to deep square and pockets two runs. A single off the final delivery.

Marufa to continue. FOUR runs. Harmanpreet gets a full toss and she slaps it to deep mid wicket. Six runs from the over.

Fahima gets a WICKET! Mandhana falls! Looks to cut a short delivery but hands a catch to the point fielder. Harmanpreet Kaur is the new batter and she gets off the mark on the final delivery with a single.

Deol pokes Marufa’s first delivery to deep point and reaches her FIFTY with a single. Deol uses the pace on offer and guides the ball to the third man fence. She hits it very fine and the fielder in the deep had no chance. Eight runs from the over.

Mandhana and Deol rotate the strike to perfection. After five singles off the first five deliveries off Fahima’s over, Mandhana picks up a couple.

Fahima Khatun to bowl. Just three runs but it’s FIFTY for Smriti Mandhana who pulls to deep mid wicket and takes a single to get the milestone. Half way through India’s innings and the side is 108 away from the target.

Fahima Khatun to Mandhana. A single with a push to long off. Deol sweeps to deep mid wicket for a single. Mandhana cannot punish a loose delivery and her pull shot goes straight to the fielder. FOUR. Deol gets the boundary with a trickle down to the third man fence.

Marufa Akter back in the attack. Deol gets a FOUR. Wants to play a drive but the ball rises on her. The edge flies to the third man boundary.

Rabeya to bowl. Mandhana is beaten! She presses forward to defend a delivery but the ball spins away from her. Deol too fails to connect after the final delivery keeps low.

An uphill task for Harmanpreet Kaur’s side. The last game left Bangladesh chasing a similar target but the side fell short.

Today, it was Fargana Hoque who led the team from the get go. Fargana and Shamima struck a 93-run opening wicket stand to get a solid base for Bangladesh’s innings. From thereon, Fargana combined with Nigar Sultana and then Shobana Mostary to get the total past 200.

Six runs from the final over. Fargana is run out of the final delivery. But here effort gets the side to 225 runs -the highest for Bangladesh against India.

Shobana is not aware that her partner is half way down the pitch. Fargana turns back and needs to put in a dive to get back safely.

Shafali Verma with the next over. Four runs from the over. Fargana is nearly caught out of crease while returning for a second run. She is clearly exhausted after her long innings.

Meghna Singh is back to bowl. Fargana runs a couple on the first two deliveries of the over. FOUR! What a shot! Fargana walks down and lofts the ball to the long off fence. FOUR more. Flicked off her pads to square leg. 12 runs from the over.

Fargana is now on 94 runs, the highest individual score by a Bangladeshi batter.

Deepti Sharma returns. Fargana picks up a single with a punch to deep cover. Shobana gets an outside edge to short third man and scampers through for a single. Fargana with another couple of runs as she slaps a cut to deep point. A single on the final delivery to keep strike.

Rana to bowl her final over. An appeal for leg before as Shobana misses a flick to mid wicket. Only three runs from the final over. Rana ends her spell with figures of 2/45.

Vaidya to Shamima. Another instance of sharp bounce surprising the batter. Shamima misses the shot but is lucky that there is no edge on it. FOUR! Sloppy work at mid on. Shamima pulls out another slog sweep in Vaidya’s over. This time the shot goes along the ground and does not offer a chance. Sultana moves to 46, just four short of a half century. Three runs from Vaidya’s fifth over.

Deepti Sharma to continue. Dropped! Shamima is dropped on 43. She slog sweeps and there is a square leg fielder for just that shot. Harleen Deol, however, puts the chance down. Just one run in the over.

Vaidya for her fourth over. Fargana cuts to pierce the infield but there is a deep cover fielder to prevent the boundary. Two runs taken.

The partnership now is the second-highest for the opening wicket for Bangladesh.
