Hilton Cartwright eager for Test chance

All-rounder Hilton Cartwright believes he is ready to take his chance for Australia should it present itself against Pakistan in the third Test.

Uncapped at international level, 24-year-old Cartwright said he was prepared to step up if needed.

"If they say I'm going to be the third seamer, I'm preparing myself to have that opportunity," he told a news conference on Sunday.

"[I'm ready] to contribute 10, 15 overs, whatever it may be, to try and hopefully cement my spot."

Cartwright said he was aware how tough a job could be awaiting him, having seen Western Australia team-mate Mitchell Marsh dropped from the Test team.

"He said it was bloody hard," he said. "He's tried to share knowledge whenever he comes back to WA, he tries to relax a bit and understand his game more and more."

"I can see through him, how much pressure he was under and he was actually managing it really, really well."

Australia holds a 2-0 lead in the three-Test series after their win by an innings and 18 runs in Melbourne.
