On a night when Shikhar Dhawan carted the KKR bowlers all over the park, Prasidh Krishna returned impressive figures of one for 25 from his three. The Karnataka seamer got rid of Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw with a short of a length delivery around off that shaped away from the right-hander, squaring him up to get a thick outside edge which was pouched superbly by Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps.

Andre Russell's run glut continued at the Eden Gardens; his 21-ball 45 propelling Kolkata Knight Riders to 178/7 at the end of 20 overs. Russell smacked four sixes and three boundaries during his blistering knock. He was eventually dismissed by Chris Morris, holing out to Kagiso Rabada at deep backward point.

Kagiso Rabada had yet another rewarding run with the ball, picking up two wickets for 42 runs. He shared the spoils with Keemo Paul (2 for 46) and Chris Morris (2 for 38).

Shubman Gill hammered his second IPL fifty to get the Kolkata Knight Riders off to a solid start despite the early dismissal of opener Joe Denly. Gill struck seven boundaries and two sixes during an innings which saw him add 63 runs for the second wicket with Robin Uthappa and lay the platform for a big total.
