Those menacing toe-crushers and the deceptive slower ball bouncers may no longer be seen in the IPL after Sri Lanka fast bowler and Mumbai Indians' pace spearhead Lasith Malinga went unsold at the IPL auction on Saturday.
Malinga's 154 wickets from 110 games at an economy rate of 6.87 had formed the crux of MI's IPL success over the years. However, the Mumbai-based franchise, which had the right to match (RTM) card, did not exercise its option.
That said, the 34-year-old veteran could come back into the auctions on Sunday in case the teams request for him again.
