Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians) and Shikhar Dhawan (Sunrisers Hyderabad) are vital cogs in the wheel for their respective franchises and also form an ideal opening combination when playing for India in limited-overs cricket.

When it comes to batting styles, nothing much to differentiate as both are natural stroke players and on their day can take the best of bowling attacks apart. But playing in the Indian Premier League, Rohit has the added burden of captaincy while Dhawan got his share of pressure too and is expected to shoulder the responsibility of giving his team a solid start in David Warner's absence.

Dhawan has got off the blocks in this edition of IPL against Rajasthan Royals, by cracking a match-winning 57-ball 78, while Rohit scored a 18-ball 15 in the opener against Chennai Super Kings.

In Twenty Internationals, Rohit has scored 1852 runs which includes two hundreds and 15 half-centuries at a strike-rate of 135.77. On the other hand, Dhawan has played fewer matches to Rohit, but got six fifties and a strike-rate of 128.48.

In limited-overs cricket, especially the T20s, start is crucial and both the two openers will play a critical role in their team's campaign this season.
