Star Wars: Manan Vohra v Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Can Manan Vohra spoil the frugal and prolific Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s figures on Friday?

A classy right-hand batsman versus a frugal right-arm seamer. Both potent match-winners. Kings XI Punjab’s Manan Vohra and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar displayed their wares in full in the same match - on April 17. Vohra scored a quick-fire 95 (off 50 balls) and Bhuvneshwar took a five-for; it was Bhuvneshwar who had the last laugh on the night, as he dismissed Vohra at a crucial time and allowed for a five-run victory for his side. On Friday, Vohra would look for a good response.

Vohra’s show must have warmed the Kings XI management, as their batsmen, barring Hashim Amla, have not been firing this season. That captain Glenn Maxwell, with 193 runs in seven innings, is the team’s second highest run-getter in the competition so far depicts a lacklustre show by its batsmen in an event meant to be dominated by batsmen. It is no surprise it sits in the bottom half of the IPL points table.

Sunrisers, on the other hand, has been served well by a number of players. Bhuvneshwar has been its most efficient bowler, with 16 wickets and an economy rate of 6.28. Can Vohra spoil his figures on Friday?
