Australia coach Darren Lehmann acknowledged that his team was beaten by Virat Kohli's unbeaten innings.

Darren Lehmann has no regrets over Australia's selection for the World Twenty20 and said they were "beaten by one bloke" after Virat Kohli's match-winning knock put India in the semi-finals on Sunday.

Australia needed a victory in Mohali to reach the last four, but Kohli's classy 82 not out from only 51 balls ensured it was the hosts who will take on West Indies on Thursday.

Lehmann was purring over the quality of Kohli's innings and said he would not have named a different squad in hindsight as Australia's wait for a first Twenty20 title goes on.

The Australia coach said: "I think we were pretty right with all that. You would have liked see [David] Warner score more runs. He probably had a quiet tournament but that's understandable occasionally.

"You're there to make runs all the time but sometimes you struggle. I think Usman [Khawaja] was fantastic. I would have liked him to go on with it if there's one criticism.

"[Shane] Watson floating up and then down was good. I think our bowling attack made the best of the conditions. If anything it was the eight runs against New Zealand that cost us when we were 60-1 off about seven. We should have got those runs.

"We are disappointed we got knocked out but we got beaten by one bloke.

"That can happen in the nature of T20. That was the best T20 innings I've seen for a long time. I think everyone is probably in awe of that innings itself."
