Ambati Rayudu does not expect India to ease up as it aims to complete a one-day international whitewash of Zimbabwe on Wednesday. Emphatic victories on Saturday and Monday, by margins of nine wickets and eight wickets respectively, ensured India wrapped up the three-match series ahead of the final contest in Harare.
Rayudu, who passed 1,000 ODI runs when striking 62 not out in the first ODI before adding an unbeaten 41 in game two, is eager for a largely inexperienced touring squad to secure a clean sweep.
"I think when you put on this jersey, definitely, you need to go and do the job for your country, it doesn't really matter whom you are playing against," he said. "I am sure everybody would be keen to win the last game."
Rayudu, who may be rested for Wednesday's match with Faiz Fazal and Mandeep Singh hoping for maiden international appearances, expressed satisfaction with his own progress. "I am really happy with the way my one-day career has gone," said Rayudu.
"Given the guys that we have in the team, somebody has to do the role that I am doing. It's just important to stay focussed and take my opportunities when they come."
Ntini wills batsmen to come good
Zimbabwe's interim head coach Makhaya Ntini is demanding improvement from his batsmen, after seeing the hosts dismissed for 168 and 126. "You have got a lot of time in 50 overs. The players need to have the maturity of being able to read the game and understand the situation," said Ntini.
"It's a matter of understanding. Have a look at who is bowling very well, try to take singles, frustrate him. We haven't batted very well, our bowlers are very good but there's no score that they can defend. Everyone still believes that they can do it. There's no change in that."
