GOOOOALLLL!!! CROATIA HAS EQUALISED!! IT IS PETKOVIC!! What a break by the Croatians. Modric starts a quick counter-attack. He releases Orsic down the left who crosses inside the box. Petkovic gets the ball and shoots at goal. It wasn’t the strongest of shots but it takes a nick off Marquinhos and ends up inside the net.
Croatia has pinned Brazil back into its own-half but has not created any substantial chance that has threatened Alisson between the sticks.
Croatia sub: IN- Budimir OUT- Sosa
Rodrygo tries to get the ball and make a dash at goal but Gvardiol is there to shield the ball. Rodrygo, in his effort to win the ball, brings down the Croatian and concedes the foul.
Croatia with a mammoth task ahead of it, if it wants to stay in the World Cup.
Brazil starts the second period of extra-time with a 1-0 lead courtesy of Neymar’s goal.
Neymar goal keeps Brazil ahead!!
GOOOALLL!!! BRAZIL SCORES!! IT IS NEYMAR!! MAN FOR THE OCCASION!! Brazil split the Croatian defence open with some lovely passing. Neymar plays a brilliant one-two with Pedro. He gets the ball, takes the ball past Livakovic and blasts the ball into the roof of the net. Neymar equals Pele’s record of 77 goals for Brazil.
Danilo cuts in and shoots goal but his shot ends up in the stands.
Big chance: Brozovic is set up for a wonderful shot by Petkovic who kept the ball after beating two Brazil defenders. Brozovic has time and space to take his shot but blasts his effort over the bar. That is poor from the player and might prove to be costly.
Rodrygo with a dangerous cross inside the box. Paqueta looked to get a touch but Sosa does well to shield the ball and see the ball out for a goalkick.
Danilo finishes a Brazil attack with a cross inside the box but Sosa is there at the back-post to clear the ball with a header.
Brazil has a corner early in the first-period. Neymar takes the corner but it is dealt with by the Croatian defence.
First period of extra-time kicks-off
The scores are level at the end of 90 minutes and the match goes to extra-time
Shot: Antony cuts in and shoots at Livakovic’s near-post. The Croatian keeper is alert enough to make the save and hold on to the ball.
Brazil tries to start a counter-attack but Modric brings down Rodrygo and concedes the foul.
Brazil starts the second-half stoppage-time with a corner but it is cleared.
Four added minutes at the end of the second-half!!
Modric’s cross inside the box is cleared by the Brazil defence. His final ball hasn’t been really up to the mark.
Brazil with a counter-attack but the final ball does not come as Croatia gets back possession. Brazil gets the ball back and Militao’s shot takes a deflection and goes out for a corner.
Brazil sub: IN- Pedro OUT- Richarlison. Pedro plays his club football at Flamengo.
Rodrygo sets up Paqueta for the shot and the latter obliges by taking a first-time effort from the edge of the box. It was a low and hard shot at goal but Livakovic does well to hold on to the ball.
Modric carries the ball with a bursting run. He passes the ball to Petkovic who cannot keep possession.
Booking: Brazil’s Marquinhos is shown a yellow card for his tackle on Modric.
Save: Neymar with another chance as he runs down the left after being played a lovely through ball. He tries to slot the ball into the past padt Livakovic but the Croatian keeper is there once more to make the save.
Antony cuts in and is brought down to the ground. He looks for a freekick but gets nothing.
Brazil keep the pressure on with the attack but it ends as Neymar’s cross inside the box ends up with Livakovic.
Croatia subs: IN- Petkovic, Vlasic OUT- Kramaric, Pasalic

Booking: Brazil’s Casemiro sees yellow for his challenge on Brozovic.
Neymar’s cross inside the box takes a deflection off a Croatia player and the ball pops up kindly for Paqueta. He shoots but Livakovic is there to make the save.
Brozovic brings down Neymar with a challenge. Brozovic is on a yellow and really needs to be careful. This was maybe his last warning.
Brazil sub: IN- Rodrygo OUT- Vinicus Jr
Militao does well to keep the ball in play and send a cross from the right flank but it is cleared by Lovren who was waiting in the middle.
Croatia players are displaying a lovely dogged mentality and not allowing Brazil anytime on the ball. Modric is dispossessed near the right touchline and Paqueta gets the ball but Juranovic is soon on him, not allowing him any space to work a move.
Brazil with a chance to counter - Richalison gets the ball and starts the attack. He tries to thread the ball to Vinicius but Lovren is there to make the interception.
First involvement for Antony as he finds Richalison with a good pass. Richarlison keeps the ball in at the right flank and tries to find Paqueta in the middle but the cross is cleared away by the Croatia backline.
Brazil sub: IN- Antony OUT- Raphinha
Save: Neymar finds himself in a good position inside the box after he was played a lovely through ball. One-on-one with Livakovic, Neymar shoots but his shot is saved.
Perisic crosses a ball at the far-post trying to find Pasalic, but the cross is too heavy for Pasalic and the ball goes out of play.
VAR checked for a possible penalty. Juranovic might have handled the ball inside the box, but the check is over and no penalty is given.
Vinicius passes the ball to Neymar who shoots but it is blocked by Gvardiol. The rebound falls to Vinicius and his shot is blocked by Livakovic.
Perisic and Marquinhos race to get to the ball and the latter wins it. Perisic with a shove on Marquinhos and it is a Brazil freekick.
The second-half kicks-off at the Education City Stadium. The match is goalless.
The match is goalless as both teams break for half-time. Croatia has done well to keep Brazil’s attack at bay.
One added minute at the end of the first-half.
Thiago Silva does well to shield the ball from Kramaric but the assistant blows the whistle as the latter was offside when he got the ball.
Shot: Neymar shoots for goal directly from the freekick. The shot took a minor deflection but not enough to trouble Livakovic who does well to catch thebball and hold on to it.
Vinicus Jr is brought down near the penalty area by Brozovic and Brazil has a freekick in a dangerous area.
Juranovic with a lovely flick to find Pasalic on the right flank but the latter cannot control the ball and ends up conceding a throw.
Gvardiol uses his knee to send the ball back to Livakovic. The Brazil players look at referee Michael Oliver but he says there was nothing wrong with that.
Richarlison tries to nick the ball and make a run towards goal but Gvardiol steps and puts his body between the ball and Richarlison. Gvardiol shields the ball and Juranovic clears.
The tempo of the match has dropped a bit at the moment. Brazil is not pressing that intently for now. Croatia, despite having some close shaves, will be happy with how things have panned out till now.
Booking: Brozovic brings down Neymar by pulling his shirt and it is clear foul and card. Brozovic had no answer to Neymar’s quick feet there.
Brozovic concedes a foul after pushing Vinicus Jr on the ground.
Nothing comes from Brazil’s resulting freekick.
Modric with another disappointing delivery as he cannot clear the first man. Croatia wasting precious chances, which might come back to hurt it.
Booking: Danilo sees a yellow for his challenge on Juranovic.
Casemiro goes for a shot from outside the box. He caught it well but it takes a deflection and goes out for a corner.
Vinicus Jr cuts in and tries to find the far-post with a curling shot. The shot was goalbound but it is blocked. The rebound almost falls to Raphinha but Croatia does well to clear the ball to safety.
Vinicius using the inside of his foot to send a cross inside the box but since it was an early cross, there wasn’t any Brazil player to attack it.
Modric sends a lovely cross inside the box, but there wasn’t any Croatia player to attack it. Militao clears the ball to safety.
Marquinhos sends a long ball to Neymar, who made a run behind Lovren. However, the timing of the run wasn’t quite right as the assistant referee raises his flag for offside.
Perisic with a searching cross inside the box from the left flank but it does not find a Croatia shirt. Brazil regains possession.
Juranovic sends a cross inside the box for Perisic, who jumps to head the ball but ends up fouling Militao. Brazil gets a freekick.
Shot: Vinicus Jr cuts in and attempts a curler at the far-post but Livakovic holds on to the shot.
Kovacic does well to keep the ball but is brought down by Casemiro. Croatia has a freekick.
Modric delivers a ball inside the Brazil box from the resulting freekick but it is cleared easily by Brazil’s backline.
Brazil pressing right from the starting whistle. Croatia needs to play as a team if it wants a positive result today. It needs to be very good with the ball.

Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic described their World Cup quarterfinal opponents Brazil as “terrifying” after the five-times champion thrashed South Korea 4-1 to send a clear message to its rivals.
Brazil, however, could be even stronger in Friday’s last-eight clash with the 2018 runners-up as left back Alex Sandro should be available, and it will be close to full-strength after several injury problems.
With talisman Neymar and key defender Danilo returning against South Korea after missing two games due to ankle problems, coach Tite had to improvise and started right-back Danilo on the left of the defence.
Tite is hoping to field his first-choice team against Croatia with full-backs Danilo and Sandro in their natural positions, sending versatile centre-back Eder Militao back to the substitutes’ bench after impressive performances.
Neymar looked sharp in 80 minutes on the pitch against South Korea, scoring a goal and showing no signs that his right foot was bothering him.
He will have extra motivation against Croatia, as he is one goal away from equalling Pele’s record for the most goals scored for Brazil (77).
Neymar scored his 76th against South Korea and paid tribute to the 82-year-old former Brazil great, who is undergoing treatment for cancer, holding a banner in the middle of the pitch with “Pele” written on it.
“It’s hard to talk about what Pele is going through, but I wish him all the best, I hope he gets back to good health as soon as possible and that we can comfort him with this victory and the banner we raised for him,” an emotional Neymar told a news conference.
After overcoming Japan on penalties on Monday following a 1-1 draw after extra time, Croatia faces the huge task of facing Brazil and its five-man attack, which blew away South Korea with four first-half goals.
Led by the experienced Luka Modric, Dejan Lovren, Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic, the 2018 finalist arrived in Qatar as one of the oldest teams. There are concerns about the fitness and form of key stalwarts after the gruelling 120- minute game against Japan.
“Brazil are the favourites, let’s face it,” Dalic told reporters. “Brazil are the most powerful and the best national team at the World Cup.
“What I’ve seen so far when you take a look at their players, their quality, skills and value, then it is indeed terrifying.
“We need to enter the match with much faith, self-confidence and looking for our chances, enjoy the occasion of playing Brazil, that’s it.”
