Former Atletico manager Cesar appointed Jamshedpur coach

Cesar Ferrando Jimenez led Atletico Madrid to the Copa Del Rey semifinals in the 2003-04 season.

Jamshedpur Football Club, on Saturday, announced that it has appointed former Atletico Madrid and Elche manager Cesar Ferrando as its new head coach for the upcoming season.

After successful stints with Spanish Club, La Nucia, Cesar managed teams such as Atletico Madrid, Valencia B, Elche, Albacete (La Liga & Segunda Division Clubs). He also possesses experience in coaching an Asian team with his stint in Malaysia where he managed Johur Darul Takzim F.C. in 2013-14.

Cesar also played for Spanish clubs such as Valencia, Salamanca, Sabadell, Alzira as a midfielder.

“We are delighted to welcome Cesar Ferrando to Jamshedpur FC. We are extremely confident that he is the right person for the job and will work to deliver trophies for our fans and bring glory to Jamshedpur," Jamshedpur FC Director, Sunil Bhaskaran said.

“Several things stood out during his interactions with us and the entire process; his vision, football knowledge, energy, determination and love of the game. He had thorough knowledge about our club, our players and the Indian Super League which was very impressive. He shares our vision to move forward, to build on the platform created by us and help this club enjoy greater success,” Bhaskaran added.

The club's Chief Executive Officer Mukul Choudhari said, “Cesar Ferrando has had an outstanding football management career and proved with the performance of the field time and again. His sides have always played exciting football, impressing with their attacking approach and dynamism, and his coaching methods significantly improved the players. He is hardworking, passionate and his sense of values make him an ideal person to take us forward and fits in perfectly with the values of the club and the management.”

Cesar said: “Our main objective will be to give our best every day at every training session and make the team compete at the highest level every game we play. Success for me in this season will be to play good football, implement a strong and unique football model to make the team more competitive in the league and let the supporters enjoy the faith they have put in my team, my staff and me.”
