The 2016-17 Hero I-League season will kick-off on 7th January (2017) with a match between defending champion Bengaluru FC and Shillong Lajong at the Kanteerava stadium in Bengaluru.

The fixtures (till round nine) were announced by the League on Tuesday. Kingfisher East Bengal will start its league campaign on the same day as Bengaluru when it hosts Aizawl FC at the Barasat stadium.

Newcomers Chennai City FC and Minerva Punjab FC will face each other at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium (Chennai) on 8th January. Last season's runner-up, Mohun Bagan, will open its campaign when it welcomes Churchill Brothers to Rabindra Sarobar stadium on the same day.
The season's first Kolkata-derby will be played on February 12th at the Kanchenjunga stadium in Siliguri.
Bengaluru FC, which won the I-league and reached the AFC Cup final in Doha last season, will be looking to sustain the momentum under new coach Albert Roca, who look over from Ashley Westwood.
