Mohun Bagan defeated Mohammedan Sporting 2-1 in its last engagement to wind up its Calcutta Football League (CFL) campaign with an unbeaten record here on Tuesday.

Philip Adjah drew first blood for Mohammedan in the 72nd minute.

However, Bagan fought back through goals from Tirthanka Sarkar (83rd) and Pintu Mahata (90th).

Bagan had ensured the title by beating Calcutta Customs 2-0 in its previous match.

This was the 13th occasion when Bagan, which recorded nine wins and two draws, lifted the title remaining unbeaten in the CFL.

In another match, East Bengal, the champion in the last eight editions, rode on Jobby Justin's 12th minute strike to pip FCI 1-0.

East Bengal has to wait for the result of the match between Peerless and Aryan Club, on September 25, to know whether it finishes second in the league.
