Raghul Rangasamy wins FMSCI's Upcoming Motorsports Person of the Year award

G. R. Karthikeyan, the father of India’s first Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

G. R. Karthikeyan, the father of India’s first Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award while Raghul Rangasamy was named the Upcoming Motorsports Person of the Year and received the Raymond Gautam Singhania Trophy at the FMSCI Annual Awards in Mumbai on Monday.

FIA president Jean Todt was the chief guest at the event and handed over the awards, where Narain Karthikeyan spoke about his father’s inspiring presence in own career and as one of the pioneers in establishing a framework for Indian motorsports.

The 25-year-old Rangasamy, meanwhile, won the LGB Formula 4 title in the JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship and the FF 1600 category at the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship.

FMSCI president. J. Prithviraj spoke about new ventures to come and announced Champions Yacht Club as the new promoter.

(winner of the APRC 2 Cup for Drivers), Abdul Wahid (second overall in his category in the Rally of Morocco, a FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship event), Armaan Ebrahim (podium in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia), Anindith Reddy K. (podium in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia), Amittrajit Ghosh (podium in ERC Acropolis Rally ERC 2 as driver), Ashwin Naik (podium in ERC Acropolis Rally ERC 2 as co-driver), Jehan Daruvala (several podiums in FIA Euro F3 Championship), Karthik Matei (second in Asia Cup of Road Racing, Indonesia round), Musa Sherif (winner of the APRC 2 Cup for Co-Drivers), Malsawn Dawngliana second in Asia Cup of Road Racing, India round).
