Awards for Sakshi, Sindhu; Dipa to be felicitated

AIFF has announced Rs. 5 lakh for Sakshi Malik and P. V. Sindhu. Dipa Karmakar will be felicitated by the Tripura government.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel congratulated ace shuttler P. V. Sindhu and wrestler Sakshi Malik for winning medals at the Rio Olympics and announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakh for them.

“AIFFMedia expresses it’s support & solidarity with the sporting fraternity for doing India proud. We award Rs. 5 lakh each to Sindhu and Sakshi,” Patel wrote on his personal twitter handle.

“They make us proud. Their achievements inspire the entire nation,” Patel said.

Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who missed the medal in the Rio Olympics by a whisker, would be felicitated by the Tripura government on August 22.

“Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Youth and Sports Affairs minister Sahid Choudhuri would felicitate Dipa Karmakar and her coach Bishweshwar Nandi on August 22 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan here,” Director of Youth and Sports Affairs Dulal Das said.
