Government funds Indian athletes for World Winter Games

A strong Indian contingent of 90 athletes, 23 coaches and three other officials, bound for the World Winter Games in Ramsau, Austria, from March 14 to 25, was fully funded by the Union Sports Ministry.

A strong Indian contingent of 90 athletes, 23 coaches and three other officials, bound for the World Winter Games in Ramsau, Austria, from March 14 to 25, was fully funded by the Union Sports Ministry.

In a send-off function on Friday for the contingent, which was also attended by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Pal Gurjar, the Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel stated that the government was spending about Rs. 1.5 crore on the contingent. Wishing all success for the athletes, the Minister also revealed that the Sports Ministry was providing financial assistance to the organisation, Special Olympics Bharat for organising the national championship and coaching.
