The Industrial Development Bank of India today felicitated ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar and her coach Bisweswar Nandi and donated latest gymnasium equipment worth Rs 11 lakh to the state government. Deputy managing director of the bank, K.P. Nair said as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility the bank bought the equipment from France for Dipa’s use.
Dipa, while acknowledging the felicitation and thanking the bank for making available the modern equipments, told reporters that it would be of immense help to her as well as others.
State Sports Minister Shahid Chowdhury, who was present in the felicitation programme, congratulated the IDBI for the generous help and said that eight more sports complexes would come up in Tripura as the state was giving priority to sports after Dipa brought laurel for the state.
Earlier, Dipa and her coach Nandi jointly inaugurated a branch of the IDBI Bank at Champamura, near Tripura.
