Continuing his terrific form on Day 4, Virat Kohli smashed a massive 235, becoming the first Indian captain to score three double hundreds, and led India to a skyhigh total of 631 runs.

Jayant Yadav scored his maiden century in only his third Test. He was also involved in a record 241-run, eighth wicket partnership with Kohli.

Ravindra Jadeja provided quick blows for India, dismissing Alastair Cook and Moeen Ali cheaply in England's second innings, taking his side closer to victory.

Joe Root made a quickfire 77 runs in the second innings but was trapped leg before wicket by Jayant Yadav before the end of the day's play.

Ravichandran Ashwin made it worse for the visiting team as he bagged two quick wickets — Stokes and Ball — leaving England with just four wickets in hand in its second innings.
