Sandeep Warrier, one of India's promising pace bowlers who made a huge impression for Kolkata Knight Riders in his maiden IPL season, is getting married to Aarathy Kadturiraj, a much decorated international skater from Chennai.

“I had met her five years ago when she invited me for a function at SRM Medical College, Chennai, where she was doing her MBBS at the time,” says the Kerala swing bowler. “She was heading the sports association of her college.”

Aarathy is now in Barcelona, representing India at the World Roller Games. She has already won some 130 international and national meets.

“She is not that keen on cricket, but she is one of the main reasons why I didn't quit the game last season after I failed to get picked by any IPL franchise,” Sandeep reveals. “She had asked me to play for another season.”

He did. And finally, KKR signed him when two of its quick bowlers, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi, were injured.

Though he was picked only for the last three matches of the IPL, he was able to showcase his obvious skills, especially his ability to swing. He also did well for India A in the recent series against Sri Lanka A.
