The Indo-U.S. pair beat Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico and Julio Peralta of Chile 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 in an hour and 10 minutes.

Being an unseeded team, Divij was pleased with the way he combined with Scott Lipsky to beat some “really good teams.” “This should definitely help my confidence, going forward,” signed off Divij.

The champion team collected EUR 31,910 and 250 ATP points. The runner-up won EUR 16,780 and 150 points.

Winning points that matter

Gonzalez and Peralta dominated the proceedings, but only till the super tie-break, in which the Indo-American pair affixed its stamp of authority. Gonzalez and Peralta converted two of five breakpoints, to one of three by Divij and partner. The champion team won 52 points to 53 by its opponents, but won the points that did matter in the end.

In the ITF women’s event in Egypt, Kanika Vaidya in partnership with Emilie Francati of Denmark won the doubles title.
