P.V. Sindhu goes into the semifinal of BWF World Championships on Saturday with a better head-to-head record over Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.
The Indian ace sailed into the semis after beating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-17, 21-19 in a 58-minute quarterfinal match on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sindhu and Yamaguchi will clash for the 11th time. Out of their 10 previous matches, Sindhu enjoys a better record with six wins over the Japanese shuttler.
But Yamaguchi will take confidence from the fact that she had beaten Sindhu 19-21, 21-19, 21-18 in their last outing at the All England Open in March this year.
They first clashed in 2013 at the Japan Open where Yamaguchi defeated Sindhu 21-6, 21-17. However, from 2017, in their last five outings - Sindhu has prevailed over Yamaguchi thrice.
