Eoin Morgan, who hopped off the field in the fixture against West Indies, with a dodgy back, showed no signs of pain as he waltzed to the fastest hundred of this edition, and fourth quickest overall, off just 57 balls against Afghanistan in Manchester on Monday. He achieved the feat with a six off Rashid Khan.
Morgan struck a record 11 sixes -- the most number of sixes in an innings for an England player in a World Cup -- and three fours during his domineering knock which saw the wheels come off Afghanistan's bowling in spectacular fashion.
Morgan took a special liking to off-spinner Mohammad Nabi, reaching his 47th one-day international fifty with a six. An over later, he collected 13 off Nabi with two back-to-back maximums.
Joe Root (2), Rohit Sharma (2), Shakib Al Hasan (2), Jos Buttler (1), Jason Roy (1) Aaron Finch (1), and David Warner (1), are the other players to hit a hundred in this World Cup.
