So what if the Indian Premier League (IPL) is still a year away, the Chennai Super Kings has made it a point to create some noise before its comeback in the tournament.

And for that, it has chosen the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) opening ceremony as the perfect platform. On Saturday, as the much anticipated tournament in the state kicks off at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, the opening ceremony would see old boys from CSK reuniting in a six-hitting contest.

As expected, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will lead the pack in this new endeavour. Not just him, the erstwhile CSK captain will be joined by former Australian star Matthew Hayden, Mohit Sharma, S Badrinath, Pawan Negi, and Anirudha Srikkanth. They will face a bowling machine and attempt to clear the ropes.

Former India international L Balaji, Test opener M Vijay will also add gloss to the contest, which will be sponsored by the CSK.

With the tournament already gaining attention, Dhoni’s presence would definitely help the organisers—Tamil Nadu Cricket Association—get off the second edition in style. And definitely would mark the return of CSK!
