Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza and batsman Sabbir Rahman have been handed fines following an incident involving England's Jos Buttler on Sunday.

Buttler was visibly irritated at Bangladesh's celebrations after England's stand-in limited-overs skipper was given out leg-before wicket on review in a 34-run win for the hosts in Mirpur, which squared the three-match 50-over series at 1-1. He walked back towards the opposing players before being ushered away by the umpire, later suggesting Bangladesh had been over-exuberant in their celebrations. Mortaza and Sabbir have now been fined 20 per cent of their match fees, while Buttler has been reprimanded.

The Bangladesh duo were found to have breached Article 2.1.7 of the code, which relates to "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an international match." Buttler was ruled to be guilty of "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match".

All three players have had a demerit point added to their disciplinary records.

Javagal Srinath of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, said: "The Bangladesh players overstepped in their celebration of Jos Buttler's wicket, which prompted an inappropriate reaction from the dismissed batsman and required the on-field umpires' intervention. We all want to see high intensity on the field of play, but only as long as it is not provoking or antagonising or disrespecting the opponent."
