Faf du Plessis was delighted with South Africa's dominance after >clinching a 3-0 series victory over Sri Lanka on day three of the third Test in Johannesburg.

The Proteas won the first two matches in excess of 200 runs before a crushing innings and 118 runs victory at the Wanderers completed the whitewash on Saturday.

Hashim Amla and J. P. Duminy made centuries as South Africa posted 426, with Sri Lanka skittled for just 131 and 177 respectively in its two innings.

Captain Du Plessis was delighted his team did not give the tourists a sniff throughout the series.

"It was a complete performance once again," he said at the post-match presentation.

"We started with the bat on a tough wicket and to get runs on the board like that — it was an amazing innings [from Amla and Duminy] and the bowlers were spectacular.

"It was a big thing that we wanted to make sure we step up [in] this game and dominate once again.

"To win 3-0 where Sri Lanka didn't have a session where they were controlling us - that consistency is hard in Test cricket."

Duminy contributed to some excellent fielding from the Proteas — Du Plessis' acrobatics at second slip to remove Angelo Mathews undoubtedly the highlight — when he caught Upul Tharanga.

It is a facet the all-rounder says South Africa pride themselves on.

He said: "We've been working hard on our fielding, putting a lot of emphasis on it. It started in Australia with some guys taking good catches and we pride ourselves on our fielding."
