Australia batsman Peter Handscomb is happy with the start to his Test career, but he is eyeing more runs.

In three Tests, Handscomb has made 249 runs at an average of 83, including two 50s and a century.

While he is pleased with the way he has started, the 25-year-old said he wanted more heading into the third Test against Pakistan in Sydney.

"I'm pretty happy with it," Handscomb told a news conference on Sunday.

"It's funny though, as a batter, you're never satisfied, no matter how many runs you make. You ask Davey Warner or Smudge [Steve Smith] the same thing, they'll want more runs as well. I'm obviously very happy and very proud to be out here wearing the baggy green, but I'll keep trying to make as many runs as I can."

Handscomb made 54 off 90 balls during the second Test in Melbourne as Australia claimed victory by an innings and 18 runs.

But he refuses to get too comfortable in the Test team, saying: "I don't think you can ever feel established.

"I think as soon as you start getting a little bit complacent in your own game, that's when you start finding yourself in a bit of a form slump. You've got to go out there and keep doing your job."
