Wesley Sneijder will become Netherlands' most capped player against Luxembourg on Friday, but he says the record is "not important".

Oranje boss Dick Advocaat has already confirmed Sneijder will be in the starting line-up for the World Cup qualifier in Rotterdam, ensuring he will move past Edwin van der Sar with his 131st appearance for his country.

However, with Netherlands fourth in Group A and six points adrift of leaders France, Sneijder is only thinking about helping the team claim an important three points.

"That record is not important. You think the record is more important than I do," he said during a pre-match news conference.

"Tomorrow [Friday] is about three points. We should be winning against Luxembourg.

"After the game you can ask me anything, but now I'm thinking about Luxembourg."

The match against Luxembourg will be Advocaat's first back in charge of Netherlands having left Fenerbahce to take the helm for a third time, and he paid tribute to the Galatasaray midfielder.

"When I gave him his debut in 2003 we had some discussions, including with the media, as to whether or not he could play with Rafael van der Vaart," said Advocaat.

"But, for me, his quality is still undisputed. He is a great player with a great career."
