AB de Villiers started his Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign with a 44 against Kolkata Knight Riders, but the effort went in vain as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) lost the game. But it didn’t stop the attacking intent of the seasoned batsman from South Africa. He slammed a match-winning 40-ball 57 against Kings XI Punjab on Friday.
When RCB takes on Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, all eyes will be on the Royals bowling attack and their plans around AB. Ben Stokes — who is yet to prove his Rs. 12.5 crore tag — could set up the magic ball.
The England all-rounder remained quiet in the first two games — 5, 0/21 and 16 — and he will be aiming to turn a few heads. Stokes is an impact player, both with the bat and ball, and he will be keen to stage a turnaround.
