GL v RCB Star Wars: The focus is on Kohli v Jadeja

It would not just be a test of character for both the teams, but it would also bring the focus back on the two spirited people of the IPL — Kohli and Jadeja.

These are the times when club wins over country. And, these are the times when team-mates at the national side become foes in the club outfit. That’s what the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all about — it brings foes close, friends closer!

Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja would perhaps agree to this, when Royal Challengers Bangalore takes on the Gujarat Lions in Rajkot on Tuesday. It would not just be a test of character for both the teams, but it would also bring the focus back on the two spirited people of the IPL — Kohli and Jadeja.

After thumping Australia in the Test series, both captain Kohli and Jadeja missed the first few games for their sides in the IPL. That, however, affected both the teams as they are struggling in the points table. While Kohli’s star-studded Bangalore finds itself at the bottom of the table, Jadeja’s Gujarat Lions is at the seventh spot. And, both the players would be hoping to outshine each other when they take the field at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

But then, the fact that none of them have got off to a flier would keep both Kohli and Jadeja under pressure. While Jadeja has just scalped one wicket in the last two games, Kohli has had scores of 62 and 28 — something not very impressive. In the fast lanes of T20 cricket, statistics has very little role to play, and that’s why the focus would shift on them on Tuesday’s important fixture.

Knowing each other inside out, both the ‘friends’ wouldn’t mind turning foes. After all, in slam-bang cricket, every win counts!
