Lyca Kovai Kings defeated the Albert Tuti Patriots comprehensively by nine wickets in the TNPL game at the MA Chidambram stadium here on Wednesday. M.K. Sivakumar was the stand out performer with the ball for the Kovai Kings and took a hat-trick in the 18th over. He finished with figures of 3/10 and was awarded the man of the match.
Electing to bat first, Tuti Patriots failed to even play its quota of 20 overs and was dismissed for 95. It was 16-year-old Washington Sundar who showed some maturity and stayed put for the Patriots, scoring respectable 43 runs from 48 balls. Only two other batsmen managed to reach double figures for the team.
Sundar was one of the three batsmen dismissed along with Maaruthi Raghav and Akash Sumra by Sivakumar to take the hat-trick. Kovai Kings never faced any trouble and chased down the score comfortably in less than 13 overs.
Openers L.Suryaprakash and B.Anirudh Sita Ram came out all guns blazing and had a 94-run opening partnership. Suryaprakash was unlucky to be run out on 43 after Anirudh's straight drive touched the bowler's hand and hit the stumps at the non-strikers end. Anirudh stayed unbeaten on 48.
