Tim Paine flatly rejected the notion that any Australia player could be caught up in the allegations of an attempt to fix the third Ashes Test against England in Perth.
On the eve of the two sides renewing rivalries at the WACA, the Sun newspaper claimed its undercover reporters had been offered the opportunity to purchase details of supposed rigged periods of play.
Both Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board released statements expressing their desire to help the ICC with any investigation, as well as reiterating their zero-tolerance stance on the issue of fixing.
The ICC subsequently announced that there was presently "no evidence...to suggest the current Test match has been corrupted".
And Paine, facing the media after England reached stumps on day one at 305-4, was unequivocal in his assertion that no one from his side would be involved.
"I heard very briefly about it this morning, but I haven't heard a lot else about it," the wicketkeeper said in a news conference.
"All of our guys have been educated on that sort of stuff for a long time.
"We certainly know what's right and wrong and I know there's no one in our team that's involved in any of that."
