EPL Team of the Weekend: Salah teams up with Everton trio

Mohamed Salah commands the spotlight in our Opta-guided Premier League Team of the Weekend as three Everton players make the grade.

Mohamed Salah starred on Friday as Liverpool recaptured top spot in the Premier League.

He joins forces with Jamie Vardy and Chris Wood in a lethal-looking three-man attack in our latest Opta-powered Team of the Weekend.

GOALKEEPER - VICENTE GUAITA (CRYSTAL PALACE)

Vicente Guaita made his 15th league start of the season at St James' Park and helped Crystal Palace to a precious 1-0 win with a well-earned clean sheet.

The Spanish goalkeeper made five saves as the Eagles soared into 12th position, a reassuring 11 points clear of the relegation places.

RIGHT-BACK - RICARDO PEREIRA (LEICESTER CITY)

Ricardo Pereira has been a useful creative weapon all season for Leicester City and that continued in the heavy 4-1 victory against Huddersfield Town.

The lively Portugal international created two scoring chances, one of which was the cross for Jamie Vardy's first goal.

CENTRE-BACK - KURT ZOUMA (EVERTON)

Plenty have debated France head coach Didier Deschamps' preference for Kurt Zouma over Manchester City's Aymeric Laporte but the Everton man was outstanding on Sunday.

Zouma's team-high five clearances were essential to the clean sheet the Toffees kept in its 1-0 defeat of Arsenal.

CENTRE-BACK - PHIL JAGIELKA (EVERTON)

Phil Jagielka proved the perfect late replacement for the unwell Michael Keane as he grasped a rare and unexpected starting chance with both hands.

As well as his match-winning goal, ex-England international Jagielka contributed two clearances and recovered possession twice in a cool-headed display.

LEFT-BACK - LUCAS DIGNE (EVERTON)

Lucas Digne has long since seen off the challenge of Leighton Baines at left-back and it is easy to understand why when he possesses the kind of quality and attitude seen against the Gunners.

The French defender brings considerable bite to Marco Silva's side, his four tackles on Sunday essential in setting a high standard of team-wide tenacity.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD - YOURI TIELEMANS (LEICESTER CITY)

Leicester face a fight to retain Youri Tielemans' services when his loan spell from Monaco comes to an end at the conclusion of the campaign.

His list of suitors will have only grown after another strong box-to-box showing at John Smith's Stadium, which included a goal and three tackles.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD - ASHLEY WESTWOOD (BURNLEY)

He curled in the corner for Chris Wood's equaliser, scored the goal that put Burnley ahead and fully deserves a place in this XI.

Ashley Westwood's contributions are often understated, but the midfielder was a standout in his side's 3-1 triumph over Bournemouth.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD - JAMES MADDISON (LEICESTER CITY)

James Maddison notched a brilliant free-kick for the Foxes on Saturday and that was far from the sum total of his output.

The playmaker also completed an eye-catching 96 per cent of his passes as Leicester picked the Terriers to pieces.

STRIKER - MOHAMED SALAH (LIVERPOOL)

The breathtaking breakaway that saw Liverpool sweep from one end of St Mary's to the other in an instant was Mohamed Salah at his most glorious.

His unerring finish on the end of a long solo dribble inspired the Reds to go and grab a vital 3-1 win over Southampton that lifted them back into first place.

It was the star forward's 50th goal in England's top flight, a mark he has reached in fewer appearances than any other Liverpool player.

STRIKER - CHRIS WOOD (BURNLEY)

Chris Wood set Burnley's comeback against Bournemouth in motion by punishing Asmir Begovic's failure to claim Westwood's corner.

That goal took the centre-forward's Premier League tally to eight for the season, and he offered much more than a pure poaching threat at the Vitality Stadium.

STRIKER - JAMIE VARDY (LEICESTER CITY)

As the likes of Maddison and Tielemans buzzed around him, a clinical Jamie Vardy needed just two shots on target to bag a brace against the already relegated Huddersfield.

That is eight goals now since the start of February for the 32-year-old, who looks a revitalised player under new management.
