Michael Carrick has signed a one-year extension with Manchester United on Saturday which will keep him at the club till the end of June 2018.
Carrick told manutd.com, “What a fantastic way to finish off the season, with a new trophy in our cabinet. I am delighted that my journey with this great club is going to continue.” The 2017-18 season will be Carrick’s 12 year at the club.
During his time at the club, Carrick has gone on to make 450 appearances while winning five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Champions League, one FIFA Club World Cup along with the recent Europa League final win over Ajax on Wednesday.
United manager Jose Mourinho expressed his delight at the midfielder’s extension, "I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Michael over this past season. He is one of the true professionals of the game. Not only is he a great footballer, he is also a fantastic human being and a great role model to our younger members of the team.”
