Three-way battle for survival in final I-League round

Mumbai FC, Shillong Lajong and Aizawl FC are caught in a three-way fight to stay in Indian football's top tier but the latter's fate is out of its hands having played out all its games.

Bengaluru FC has already been crowned as the 2016 I-League champion but there is still plenty to fight for at the bottom of the table, with three teams battling for survival.

Mumbai FC, Shillong Lajong and Aizawl FC are caught in a three-way fight to stay in Indian football's top tier but the latter's fate is out of its hands having played out all its games.

Salgaocar FC and Mumbai FC will be safe with a single point. But it becomes tricky when either of them lose their match. On the other hand, if Lajong loses its match, irrespective of the other results, it will be relegated.

Relegation Scenarios

1. If Salgaocar loses to Sporting, Mumbai loses to Shivajians, and Lajong loses to East Bengal, then Salgaocar, Mumbai and Aizawl finish with 16, and Shillong finish with 15. SHILLONG LAJONG WILL BE RELEGATED

2. If Salgaocar loses to Sporting, Mumbai loses to Shivajians, and Lajong draw with East Bengal, then Salgaocar, Mumbai, Lajong, and Aizawl FC all will be tied at 16 points. Then, taking head-to-head records into consideration, AIZAWL FC WILL BE RELEGATED .

3. If Salgaocar loses to Sporting, Mumbai loses to Shivajians, and Lajong wins against East Bengal, then Salgaocar, Mumbai, and Aizawl finish with 16 points. Then, taking head-to-head records into consideration, MUMBAI FC WILL BE RELEGATED .

4. If Salgaocar wins or draws against Sporting, Mumbai wins or draws against Shivajians, and Lajong draws with East Bengal, then Salgaocar and Mumbai finish with 19 points (or, 17 based on their respective results) and Lajong with 16. Then, taking head-to-head records into consideration, AIZAWL FC WILL BE RELEGATED .

5. If Salgaocar draws or wins against Sporting, Mumbai loses against Shivajians, and Lajong draws with East Bengal, then Salgaocar will be safe with 17 or 19 points. Mumbai, Aizawl and Lajong will finish with 16. Then, taking head-to-head records into consideration, MUMBAI FC WILL BE RELEGATED .

6. If Salgaocar draws or wins against Sporting, Mumbai loses against Shivajians, and Lajong wins against East Bengal, then Salgaocar finishes with 17or 19 points, Lajong will be safe with 18, and Aizawl FC and Mumbai FC will be tied at 16. Then, taking head-to-head records into consideration, MUMBAI FC WILL BE RELEGATED .

7. If Salgaocar loses against Sporting, Mumbai wins or draws with Shivajians, and Lajong draws with Kingfisher East Bengal, then Salgaocar and Lajong will be tied with Aizawl FC on 16 points, Mumbai will finish with 19 or 17 points. Then, taking head-to-head records into consideration, AIZAWL FC WILL BE RELEGATED .

8. If Salgaocar loses against Sporting, Mumbai wins or draws with Shivajians, and Lajong wins against East Bengal, then Salgaocar will be tied with Aizawl FC on 16 points, Mumbai will finish with 19 or 17 points, and Lajong will finish with 18. Then, taking head-to-head records into consideration, AIZAWL FC WILL BE RELEGATED .

9. If Salgaocar draws against Sporting, Mumbai wins or draws with Shivajians, and Lajong wins against East Bengal, then Salgaocar will finish with 17 points, Mumbai with 19 or 17, and Lajong will finish with 18. AIZAWL FC WILL BE RELEGATED
