Chennaiyin FC coach Bozidar Bandovic: "Every win is a good win, its important three points. We win the game but of course we cannot be happy with how we play today especially first half because most of our preparation was about moving the ball, keeping the ball. This game we didn't do it but if you win these games it's important for the confidence and of course next game we need to be much better."

Hyderabad FC coach Manuel Marquez: "I am not happy with the score of course but I more or less am satisfied with how the team played, especially in the first half... I think every minute in the second half, every minute that passed was better for Chennaiyin because we had the control of the game and the control of the game practically most of the minutes but if you don't score the chances that you have, these kinds of things happen."

90+3' CFC completely playing on the counter right now. It has just two players at the half-line and the rest have been put in defensive duties.  CFC almost at the finishing line.

90+1' CFC SUB- Ninthoinganba Meetel comes on for Chhangte.

90' Edu Garcia swings in another dangerous corner but Chennaiyin has done well to clear the ball again. The CFC defence has put in a great shift today.

88' Hyderabad has had three consecutive corners but CFC has done well to protect its lead. Two minutes plus stoppage time to go.

86' As the match reaches its twilight, Chennaiyin has had an inspiring resurgence in the second half.  However, it is Hyderabad with all the pressure right now.

83' CFC SUB- Lukasz Gikiewicz replaces Murzaev.

81' Edu delivers a great corner, which finds Chinglesana's head. He should have done better as he miscues his header and the ball hits the top part of his head and goes out of the box.

81' HFC pushing for that equaliser. The substitutes look lively and have already settled quite well. We have seen in the first half that CFC can defend.

78' SHOT- Substitute Danu lashes a shot at Kaith's goal but the latter does well to position himself and clutch the ball.

77' FLURRY OF HFC SUBS- Marquez makes four changes at once . Sahil Tavora for Hitesh, Joel Chianese for Juanan, Javier Siveroioo for Ogbeche and Rohit Danu for Poojary.

Match resumes!!

Match halts for a drinks break!!

74' CFC SUB- Edwin Vanspaul comes on for Salam Ranjan.

73' It is all CFC right now as Hyderabad has been completely pushed back into its own half. Bandovic's men are pushing to score that second goal, which will add more security.

70' SHOT- Murzaev with a stinging shot from the left but it is not on target. That goal has done wonders to boost CFC's morale.

66' GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! VLAGYIMIR KOMAN CONVERTS FROM THE SPOT!!  Chennaiyin has been handed a lifeline here. HFC has dominated the match for so long but all it takes is one mistake.

65' PENALTY TO CHENNAIYIN!!! HITESH SHARMA BRINGS DOWN THAPA INSIDE THE BOX!!  An unnecessary challenge as Thapa was nowhere near a goalscoring position.

64' Edu Garcia's freekick is dealt comfortably by CFC and the ball is cleared.

64' BOOKING- Narayan Das becomes the second CFC player to see yellow after Rahim Ali.

62' CFC's performance in the second half has a significant improvement from the first. The Marina Machans have threatened HFC's goal but possession wise, Manuel Marquez's men are still dominating.

59' BOOKING- CFC's Rahim Ali becomes the first player to see yellow in the match.

57' SAVE- Chhangte with a great run down the right flank, cuts back to his favourite left foot which takes out Asish Rai out of the equation. He shoots at Kattimani's near-post. The keeper puts in a great save for a CFC corner.

56' Murzaev whips one in from a CFC freekick but HFC's two-man wall does the job and deflects it out for a corner.

52' SHOT- HFC skipper Joao Victor tries a shot from distance but the odds were always against him. The shot is miles off target.

51' It seems to be all HFC again in the second half. CFC did well to comeback in the later stages of the first half, but the Marina Machans have not been able to carry forward the momentum into the second.

49' GOAL RULED OUT!! Edu Garcia curls in a brilliant freekick from the left flank, which misses everyone and ends up at the back of the net. However, it does not stand as there were HFC players who were offside and obstructed Kaith's line of vision when Garcia delivered the ball.

47' SHOT- Great chance for Ogbeche. He does well to receive the ball from a long-pass from the flank. He shoots at goal but skies his shot. Very unlikely of the Nigerian.

It was Hyderabad's offence against Chennaiyin's defence in the first half as Manuel Marquez's team created better chances. However, Narzary's early injury, which forced the player out of the match was a dampener for the side. Ogbeche looked lively and had some chances to put his team ahead in the first half but the Nigerian has not been able to execute his excellent finishing abilities till now.

CFC created some chances during the later stages of the first half but spent it mostly pegged back as HFC players attacked its goal.

Stay tuned!! Live second-half action ahead after a short break!!

45+3' CFC has enjoyed a good spell of play for the last 10 minutes as half-time approaches.

45+1' SHOT- Borysiuk hits one from distance but it is nowhere near goal as an unalarmed Kattimani watches the ball go out of play.

45' A good cross by Rahim Ali, which finds Borysiuk's head. It was a free header but it is blocked.

44' A period of pressure by CFC players around HFC's penalty-area for the first time in the box. Can it make something out of this?

42' CFC finding it difficult to maintain possession inside HFC's half. Playing on the counter might be the best option for Bandovic's team.

39' SHOT- Great link-up play by HFC, which ends with Nikhil Poojary taking a shot on the turn. Anywhere on target, it could have been a goal as the shot had sting but it sails above goal. Poojary needed to show a bit of composure there.

37' HFC  maintaining its domination in possession as it currently has 61% of the ball. It has clearly been the better team till now and has created the better chances.

36' SHOT- Edu Garcia finds some space and dispatches a shot from distance. But the shot is weak and off-target. It rolls out of play.

34' Ashish Rai swings a ball in from the right flank but it lacked the trajectory needed to reach Ogbeche. The Nigerian has looked lively but hasn't been up to the mark when to finishing.

Match resumes after the drinks break!!

30' Edu Garcia swings in a great ball, which finds Ogbeche's head. But the veteran forward cannot guide the header towards goal.

28' SHOT- A poor backpass by Salam allows Ogbeche to run with acres of green ahead of him. He darts down the right side and shoots across Kaith's goal aiming for the far-post. However, the shot sails above goal.

25' POSSESSION STAT- Hyderabad FC currently dominating possession with 67% compared to Chennaiyin's 37%.

22' OFFSIDE- Ogbeche plays a great through ball to Yasir, who was clear on goal but the assistant referee raises his flag. He was offside when the ball was played to him.

21' SAVE- Edu Garcia with a brilliant freekick but Kaith puts in a brilliant save to atone for his previous error.

19' FOUL- A great ball played in to Ogbeche who does well to protect it. Kaith came out way off his line to try and clear but ends up fouling Ogeche just outside the box. It is a foul but the keeper escapes a card.

17' Both teams are showing a clear attacking intent. The game is operating on a great tempo right now with fast end-to-end action.

14' HFC has recovered from its shaky start and is asking all kinds of questions to the CFC defence right now with its snappy link-up play.

11' SHOT- Great footwork by Ogbeche to get away from Narayan Das. He sets up Hitesh for the shot, who obliges but does not hit the target as the ball balloons over goal.

10' HFC SUB- It is the end of the evening for Narzary. He cannot continue and gets replaced by Nikhil Poojary.

8' SHOT- First shot on target for HFC as confusion in the CFC backline allows Edu to pounce on the ball and dispatch his shot. Kaith made the save but could not hold it. Ogbeche was there to put in the rebound but the CFC backline recovered well and cleared the ball.

7' Early worry for Hyderabad coach Manuel as Narzary seems to have pulled a muscle. He is currently off the pitch getting medical attention. Not a good start for the Indian.

6' No escape for HFC as it keeps being pressurised by CFC. The players cannot get out of their own half at the moment.

3' Play has halted as a couple of HFC players are on the ground due to a head clash. Narzary seems to have come off the worst but he should be okay as he gets medical attention.

2' Early pressure from Chennaiyin players as the Hyderabad players are pegged back into their own half.

1' KICKOFF!! ( Chennaiyin FC captain Anirudh Thapa wins the toss and chooses to start the game. Hyderabad FC picks the side and it will be operating from left to right in the first half).

MATCH PREVIEW: ISL 2021-22: Crivellaro-less Chennaiyin begins season against Hyderabad

Two-time Indian Super League (ISL) champion  Chennaiyin FC  has had a complete overhaul this time. It has recruited a new coach in Bozidar Bandovic and acquired many Indian players and a fresh set of five foreigners.

On the other hand,  Hyderabad FC  has a relatively settled team, having retained the core of Indian players, and acquiring two of the best foreigners in ISL — midfielder Edu Garcia (Spain) and top striker Bartholomew Ogbeche (Nigeria).

Bandovic said he was aware of the challenges when Chennaiyin takes on Hyderabad in its first match of the new 2021-22 season at the Bambolim Stadium, Goa.

“To bring the players together in a very short time has been a challenge. There are many new [Indian] players and many foreigners. In football, nobody waits. They want immediate results. We will handle this for sure,” said the 52-year-old Montenegrin at a virtual media interaction on Monday.

According to Bandovic, the most important thing is to win. “There are different solutions we can use and I am trying to choose the best one to win the games,” he said.

Chennaiyin’s Rafael Crivellaro is still nursing an injury (gluteal), while Germanpreet Singh will not play on Tuesday, also due to an (undisclosed) injury.

Hyderabad’s coach Manolo Marquez, in a release, said: “We can no longer compare ourselves to the previous season [it narrowly missed out a spot in the semifinals and finished fifth). We want to continue the development of our youngsters and we want to show our fans that we can improve on last season.”
